Exactly one year ago today, our organization had nearly 50 households on our waitlist, hoping to be served, and had stopped accepting referrals for need. Additionally, we had dozens of individuals and agencies connecting with us, requesting to find reprieve in Houses into Homes. As a volunteer organization, we were overwhelmed and could not continue to meet our community’s needs. We were so pleased to find that the majority of our Iowa City Council believed in the need for our work, and what we provide to our fellow community members.

Today, for the first time since beginning our work, and with the the help of so many, but *especially our friends from United Iowa Financial, who helped us deliver to 13 households over the past three days—we have a ZERO wait-list, for the first time, since we began doing our work!

We are beyond grateful for the thousands of donated hours from our countless volunteers, who have made this possible. Houses into Homes has *always relied heavily on the care from our community, whom we are so fortunate to benefit from. Your muscle, tangible and financial donations, along with simply sharing our grunt-work—mean the world to us. We continue to stand by astounded by the generosity in our community. Your empathy, strength, and generosity continue to help us transform empty living spaces into comfortable, joyful homes for our neighbors and friends. We are forever grateful.
